I have Tricare Prime being retired military. I know that they will not pay for supplies of diapers. They will only pay for catheters. I know my insurance isn't the only one. In paying for diapers, the VA is the only organization I know of that will pay for supplies of diapers. I know there are few others, but not many.

The trick is not getting a company to take your insurance. The trick is getting your insurance to pay for the diapers. Most will NOT! They only pay for catheters.

No one can be sure why the nurse asked that question (why are you wearing a diaper), buy maybe your medical records didn't indicate you were incon. If so, the nurse should have reviewed your medical records first before making such a comment.

Just my thought.

Was at the doctors office yesterday........4th and 5th urologists I've seen. They had no idea what to tell me other than interstim and Botox. I want neither of them. I'd rather do catheters and diapers.....the doctor did a genital exam (spared me the rectal exam thankfully) he didn't bat an eye when he saw me in a regular diaper.....as I always have a diaper on over the foley. (Foley was necessary as the ride to the hospital was more than an hour)

Most Medical places that sell diapers will not do anything with Insurance. Insurance pays for catheters only.

@diaperdan

I have no idea where you came up with the idea that insurance doesnt pay for diapers. My insurance covers my diapers no questions asked, no matter WHERE i get them from, as long as the script came from my doctor.

Dan is right most insurance companies don't cover diapers, just catheters. My insurance is very good but only purchases my foley supplies but won't cover my diapers. I'm on my own for the diapers. If your insurance is covering your diapers, you are very lucky!!!

I just had a spinal stem blocker installed in my back for pain in my groin, but not to control my bladder. The hospital call for pre admission, one of the question are you still incontinent, I said yes. So in recovery I am wet all the way through the sheets. I told the nurse, I needed my wife, before we have a bigger mess. She had no idea what happened, she ran and got my wife and apologized all over her self, she had no idea that I had the issues at all. I told her the hospital knew and she said it was in my chart. The nurse was very unhappy because she her self wore protection against wetness. It doesn't matter were we go, restrooms to change or the doctors, it is a giant pain.
