Thanks again. I was very easily winded this morning, but have been active and moving around while at work today. I am already feeling better on this front and can breath much better now. I also just took out the catheter and am feeling so much more better down there as well too.

Just thought I'd give everyone an update. I'm nearly back to feeling ok again. My pain "down there" is finally tolerable without needing any pain medication, though I am still very sore. My bleeding also seems to have nearly stopped.

I'm sure I've been spared the extra pain and healing time thanks to my urologist not actually doing the sphincterotomy with the rest of my surgery. Needless to say this has me worried I will soon revert back to needing to strain to pee again, but I'm just trying to take it one day at a time for now.

I am also feeling much better from my heart stopping too. I am still extremely tired, and even
9+ hours of sleep each night is barely making a dent in my sleep deficit/healing. Luckily I am not easily winded any more, and just feel better overall.

Howdy Brian

Glad to hear that things are getting better for you.
Hopefully you will recoup quickly. I know you have been through a lot.

Resurrecting my old thread here. Just talked to my urologist and he will be doing another (hopefully last) sphincterotomy on me.

It won't be till February 2017 though, but he will be using a green laser on me next time in lieu of the usual hot knife. Supposedly the laser is better for cutting muscle while minimizing soft tissue damage. Plus, it also cauterizes each cut so he can cut out more with less bleeding.

Really hoping the seventh time will be the charm.

Brian, as always, I wish you the very best - I'm sorry that you have gone through all of that.

7th time, Brian? Ouch. Hasn't that caused you to build up a lot of scar tissue?

Hopefully the new laser technique will get better results. Best wishes.

Ouch is right. It hurts like a s.o.b. every time I get it done. Not now thought, and the incremental improvement I've had with each one has warranted pursuing it again and again. (It's like a military saying "a moment of pain in exchange for lasting peace", except this campaign is ending like Afganistan).

Yes I do have some scarring in my urethra, but not much. The urethra has a lining of sorts that heals and replenished its self differently and covers up the scarring. There is still some though, which is what turned into those strictures I had. I'm sure I'll get more doing this again, but getting these urges and straining resolved is worth it to me (assuming I can get it fully resolved).
