Beds made up the same way this evening.

Hopefully better luck tomorrow morning.

You would think after changing wet sheets the staff would have looked at the room orders and said "oh wait, we need to protect the mattresses..." I hope that today was better

No disaster this morning.

I actually brought my PUL pants, which I don't wear at home, but leaking is pretty rare. The Abenas usually do their job.

In any case, I wore the PUL pants last night, and my son was dry last night (as he usually is).

I'm happy to hear that your morning was easier today. I also use Abena (Abri-Flex pull-ups) and the bed rarely gets wet. I always sleep on a surface bed pad (disposable when I travel). I've had a few catastrophic wet nights, though....

I wear the L4s, so normally pretty secure.

Most of the more well known hotels use a (treated) cloth waterproof mattress cover. You wouldn't know it just by the feel of them, but they do protect the mattress from bed wetters. This is also standard for all of their beds, by default.

After all, not all people with bed wetting issues will tell the hotel. As such, the hotel has to be ready for anyone, and discretely enough so non-bed wetters wont get pissed off over the mattress cover (pun intended)

Good point about hotels. I think it would make good economic sense. Anything can happen. Women's periods, accidental spills you name it. I suspect that many more people than would admit it have wet the bed on occasion. The stress of traveling, fluid consumption can trigger an episode of incontinence even for those who do not normally experience it. That is my opinion anyway. Suspect that any hotel worth its salt just rolls with it.

Not so much, at least not in my experience. The one I stayed at most recently was a best western plus, and the mattress covers were decidedly not water proof. The motel 8 we started at unexpectedly, a few days ago, didn't have any mattress covers. The Wyndham garden I'm at tonight doesn't have waterproof covers (I asked them). The Atherton hotel (swanky hotel on OSU campus) didn't have any, but offered to get me a shower curtain. I stayed at a holiday inn a couple years back that had super thick, quilted, mattress covers; tested a corner with a few ounces of water, went straight through.

I think waterproof covers are pretty rare.

I think lack of waterproof covers on hotel beds is strange. I would think it would be standard practice for economic reasons. But, what do I know.

After reading about bed wetting in hotels on this post I became curious and looked on the internet. Not much on the subject. Did read about one unfortunate person in England who, as he was leaving his room in the morning, had the maid yell out the door, "The guy in room 130 wet the bed." This was right in front of the guys colleagues. I would think that hotels would train their staff better. Again, what do I know. Enclosed is the link to this article.

Wow, that's pretty awful.

Reminds me of a story my mother once told me. She was in line at a pharmacy, and the but in front of her leaned forward and whispered a question to the clerk. She picked up the phone and blasted over the PA, "Do we carry at home HIV tests?". The guy turned red and walked out.
