Well as some of you seemed keen for me to keep you updated regarding my America trip I thought I would start a new post where I could update you all on the trip. I will add to this discussion as the trip progresses.
currently sitting writing this eating my breakfast before heading out to pick up my rental car.
So today is my first full day in America YIPPIE! I arrived yesterday afternoon in LA and spent the rest of the evening in the hotel relaxing and getting over the jet lag! Apart from waking at 2 in the morning thinking it must be time to get up i slept pretty well considering.
Getting through security in England was simple and no eye brows raised at the English guy carrying a carry on full of nappies (need to start calling them diapers for the next 7 weeks!!) I changed just before boarding and settled down to some films and some not so nice aeroplane food. Now around that 5 hour mark it was time to face my fear, grab a spare (had a little drawstring bag which i had already pre packed with a couple of diapers and needed supplies). Changing in the confined place wasn't as hard I had thought apart from my heart nearly jumping out my mouth when someone tried the door! Like u all said once the pad is rolled tightly it just fits in the bin. This was repeated just as we started our decent into LA.
Jumped on the Hotel airport shuttle and after getting stuck in a bit of rush hour traffic arrived it was time to relax and de stress. As i was checking in i mentioned I was expecting a package the kind (cute!) receptionist went out back to check and confirmed it had indeed arrived. PHEW everything had gone to plan. Went to my room dropped off my bags headed back to reception to get the box (quite a bit bigger than I had expected! but will tide me over for a while) I am very impressed with NorthShore care, the box had no indication of what was in it and all was very professional and everything I had ordered was there. Also have to say i am rather impressed so far with Northshore supreme diapers only on my second but the one used last night held up well and no problems. They are a little thicker than the Tena slips I use back home but id rather a bit of bulk than wet pants.
Well lets see what today has in store for me.
On a side note, is bagging the disposable and putting it in bathroom bin in the hotel ok or will that be frowned upon? It was in my mind to take them out of the room and put in a big bin somewhere.

Welcome to the U.S.! You must have been relieved that your box of diapers had been delivered to your hotel.

And thanks for starting the diary - great idea.

:D :D Welcome to America !!! :D :D

I hope you have a wonderful time on your trip.
It will be real interesting reading to keep up with your travels.

What states will you be in?
What places are you going to go too?

You can just leave the diapers in the trash can in your room if you want too. It will be ok.
Thats what I have always did, then I left a tip for the cleaning person.
But I did have them in a trash bag all ready to go.

Don't worry, just leave them in the bin. I do the same when I'm traveling (and I travel on a regular basis :-) )
Enjoy America! I did recently too, have fun!

First full day on the road, currently stopped for a late lunch not quite sure where! but somewhere on highway 1 about 4 hours out of LA! Heading to Big Sur (planning on stopping for the night first as there is no rush!) once in Big Sur I am going to be camping for a couple of nights so WIFI depending you may or may not get updates! Planning on doing a couple of hikes round there and visiting a few nearby places so if you have any suggestions say!
Had my first Walmart experience yesterday after picking up the hire car. Popped in there to pick up a cheap tent and a few cheap camping supplies was amazed how large the shop was!!!
Diaper/incontinence situation I think is all going ok but then saying that I have not been in any challenging situations I am sure they are to come! especially with camping and hikes so any tips/suggestions feel free to share.
The only thing with being an English guy is that I am not use to dealing with heat and nappies/diapers but sure that is something I will get use to s the days go on.
For those of you asking which states I will visit my plan is California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Nevada but this as all subject to change I am booking hotels/campsites along the way .
So if any of you guys have any suggestions on where I should visit etc I would love to hear them.

Hi, as mentioned before I visited the US as well two months ago. For me the Grand Canyon, Monument Valley and Bryce Canyon were true highlights. I love those places! Absolute fantastic! For sure San Francisco is a highlight as well! There's just so much to see! Enjoy! Bob

Welcome to America, I hope you have a wonderful time. Don't worry about your issues, pack your back pack and enjoy the beauty of the area your are in. I have traveled that area, but you must see the grand canyon. this is breath taking. If it is change time just throw them in the garbage.

Loving life right now!!!! massive thanks for all your ideas on where to visit, the Grand Canyon is on my list!
Tonight will be my second night in a tent gives me a great sense of freedom! probably helps that the campsite is beautiful and makes me feel so relaxed. Spent most of today hiking and exploring all this activity will sure make me sleep like a log.
Next stop is San Francisco trying to find a cheap hotel/motel there but not having much luck. Have found a hostel but not sure if my confidence will let me stay in a hostel with shared rooms (experience advice?)
Now a funny little story from yesterday evening after a good amount of driving and a jet lagged me! no I can laugh but was f ing and cursing at the time! Go to shower in campsite shower get undressed wrap up used diaper ready to put in garbage. Shower, feeling nice and clean and relaxed by now go to get dressed and what have I done? well only forgotten to bring a spare in with me, end of me being relaxed by now! just imagine a mad Englishman rushing back to his tent trying desperately and praying to god that his bladder wouldn't leak! lesson learnt!
