Mikejames,

It is interesting how we can have such differing experiences with the same diaper. I have the fewest leaks with ConfiDry 24/7 of any diaper I have tested, and I have tested a lot. :D I think the difference must be the fit for our differing shapes.

I find high internal standing leak guards and leg gathers to be essential for fecal incontinence and will not buy a diaper without them. However, when I put the diaper on I check the leg gathers.

Mike, the Dry 24/7 absolutely is not an AB/Dl diaper. I have used many cases of this item. XP Medical rates it with 95 ounces maximum usable absorbency. The ISO rating is 4,100 ml in size medium.

Re the tapes, I cannot say as I routinely reinforce the tapes on all diapers I wear so I never have the problem of tapes slipping or popping off.

ThatFLguy,

Congrats on taping while standing. Take a few days to improve your technique, as the small things matter. Try experimenting with the angle of the tapes. The best angle will be determined by the fit of the diaper and the size of the diaper with regard to how far the wings come around your hips.

I do know for a fact that confidry is not designed or directly marketed to ABDL's. It is a true incontinence diaper that was made in direct response to when abena was cheapened up and molicare supers started to be taken off the market.

Yes they are purposely "overbuilt", but that is because this is what people with severe incontinence (like myself) were demanding for.

The plastic is also supposed to be thick, or it will rip prematurely. Even as is, they still sometimes do rip on me anyways. So thinner really isn't an option here. I do agree the tapes could be better though. There is a method in placing them so they don't pop off too often, but even so they sometimes still do.

I know they aren't perfect diapers, and it really does sound like they just don't match your body shape well enough. This happens with every brand regardless. Still, they are really good diapers that work better than most every other brand (assuming they fit that is).

Yes, I think you're spot on. FIT is probably the very most important aspect of diapering. I've been so very frustrated by Dry 24/7 as I really thought they'd be bar none the best disposable night time diaper for me but it just didn't work out that way. To be honest I am sort of between sizes on them so maybe I'll give then another try as I continue to lose weight.

I have leaks with confidry too sometimes. I haven't figured out what it is yet. The other day I was sitting on the side of the bed and flooded and leaked out the side. I'm guessing it wasn't tight enough. I've also had the diaper leak itself though. After one flood. I'll go to change and my pul pants and the outside of the diaper will be wet.

It usually leaks for me in the morning when I get up. By then it's already quite wet but no where near 95oz. I usually have to pee pretty badly when I wake up and can't make it to the bathroom in time so I end up flooding the already wet diaper on the way to the bathroom and it almost always leaks at this point. Again, not even remotely close to 95 "useable" ounces. This happens with my Abena plastic L4 maybe 1 out of 12+ times but almost every time I wear a ConfiDry. I can't figure it out because I feel like I do get a good tight fit with them.

If the ConfiDry doesn't leak in this way, it's likely already leaked in the middle of the night and soaked my bed. It sucks because I really really wanted to like these diapers.

whats REALLY frustrating is that its not consistent. i have days that they are fine then days where they cant contain one wetting.
i had been using xp level 4 and i have to be honest they performed better than confidry. at least more consistent. i really like the elastic waistband on the confidry so i really really want to like them. but unless i figure out if im doing something wrong or if it just wont work for me this may be my last case. like you, mike, i really wanted to like them.

That's how I feel. I wish Abena would make another plastic diaper, an M/L 5 with waistband and maybe add 20% more absorbancy but keep the fit and type of plastic the same.

I've wanted to try the XP A+ diapers but the lack of a leak guard has kept me away. I know the leak guard is more valuable for fecal incon, but I can't imagine how they would contain urine overnight without leak guards.

I've had really good luck with Seni Quatros too, but I just hate cloth backed diapers, especially during the day.

i havent found lack of a leak guard to be an issue personally.
i stay away from cloth backed diapers so i havent tried the seni quatro.
i did try the northshore cloth backed and did like those but found they sagged a lot.

edited to note: i dont typically wet at night its when i first wake up that i cant hold it. i have had a few wet nights but not many.

Except for bowel incontinence, any one who just dribbles urine should not need internal standing leak guards, They serve to contain fecal matter and to keep a flood of urine in the main portion of the diaper until it is absorbed.

Re the 95 oz of maximum useable capacity in the XP Medical tests, none of us will come near that. :( It is an artificial test, but more accurate than the ISO "dip and weigh" test. I would expect to get no more than 50% of the so-called "maximum useable capacity. However, it is good to compare different diapers. Anyway, for practicality who walks around with two quarts of pee in their diaper?
