Don wrote:Hi batman. I am an older member of the forum. I sometimes lurk but rarely post anymore. I am a veteran of the Marine Corps and also use the VA for some of my care. Mainly for the diapers I receive from my local VAMC. I receive Confidry 24/7. I fought a hard battle and was met with alot of rejection when asking for high end incontinence products. The first thing I recommend is starting at your local patient advocate. They can help you make your case for higher quality products. I asked my doctor for several weeks for his assistance. I did not have much luck. He simply did not know how to get such items. I have received such products before from the VA so I knew it was possible. The patient advocate set up a meeting between me and the Chief of Pharmacy where I pled my case. He agreed I needed such products and put his purchasing agents to work. They were able to secure a supplier (XPmedical) and get the ball rolling. XPmedical does alot of business with the VA so don't let them tell you it can't be done. They are an approved and registered supplier to the VA. If you have an understanding pharmacy, and a little patience, it can be done.

His route was different them mine, but I too get my ConfiDry 24/7's from the VA who orders them from XPMedical. It CAN be done! :)

Well I didn't met the new doctor. For some reason she wasn't there, so I got to see someone else. I was going in for something else other than UI and for some reason I got the feeling of I just wanting to get the appointment over with quickly. This person changed up how I take my sleep meds and now I am wide awake since 130 with my mind jumping from one thing to another. She said I am suppose to take them as needed, my thought is Ok, before bed my body will tell me when I will wake up in the middle of the night and not be able to go back to sleep after changing. The other option is, I see is take them when I do wake up and unable to go back to sleep so I am driving to work 3-4 hours later with a sleeping medicine I had taken 5 hours ago. Can you say driving while drugged which is not much better than driving while tired. Today will be the bare minimum at work today if I even go in. It is great being a civilian again where you can call in sick without having to go to sick call. The downside is I have some deadlines I have to meet very soon.

Now back to the subject at hand. On the advice of Johnstone I have purchased some samples of Dry24/7, Seni_Brief and repurchased AbriForm-XL2 what I save for trips, but I am going to see how each one works for everyday use. Johnstone recommended trying the Tena basic super, but this was on XPMedical's website concerning them. "Effective 9/3 these have been discontinued and are no longer available. With the recent redesign to cloth-like side panels we felt that the quality had decreased to the point where there are better options available. Recommended alternates are:

Molicare Super
Absorbency Plus Level 3
Seni Super Plus"

so for now I am in an holding pattern. I have secured messaged my doctor concerning not being able to sleep and the Attends not working for me and I am sure the time stamp will also catch her eye. Now what to do with 5 bags of Attends. My first thought was to see if Urology at the VA will take them or just donate them somewhere. At least they don't have my prescription label on them.

Batman, I donated the diapers I couldn't use to the Goodwill for other peeps on a budget to buy. Just DO NOT TRY SELLING THEM!! The VA watches for that! :)

I wouldn't even try selling them. I have enough problems as it is and wouldn't risk getting in trouble with the VA. One thing I used to tell my sailors was to never do something that would make you come into bad light with Uncle Sam as he does not play nice.
