Mentally and physically?

I also don't remember my incontinence timeline anymore. My medical records indicate I did start seeing a doctor in March of 1994. I do remember the availability and quality of pullups being very poor and having major leakage when I had an urge incontinent episode so I did start wearing diapers whenever I left the house for more than a couple of hours. After that it is kind of a blur as to when increased dependence and even the need for 24/7 protection occurred. I do remember starting to have accidents at home early 2003 and using pullups for like half a year just to avoid the mental hurdle of having to say I'm in diapers full time. It was mid-2003 when I gave up as even during the evening it was a losing and futile battle to make it just to avoid one extra diaper a day. In February 2005 after the usual urological tests a doctor did add a classification of "social continence" to my records. That was their polite way of classifying people who just rely on external urine collection instead of a toilet. That classification was recently changed to "contained incontinence" just because I think the medical industry realized "social continence" is a stupid and misleading label.

So basically this blockhead decided that you're lazy but socially aware enough not to walk around in public while wearing urine-soaked clothing, or wet someone's couch, but at home all bets are off? It makes me angry that so many medical "professionals" are clueless about actual physiological (dys)function. Too much time spent on books and cadavers and not enough on real, live people?

I also don't remember the exact date, but pretty close. About 4 or 5 days after Thanksgiving in 2011.

I remember it happened over 3 days ish around mid December 2010. I vividly remember driving my flimsy electric wheelchair around in the snow trying to find a shop selling adequate protection. I was so thankful to be a wheelchair user as I was wearing black trousers sat on multiple towels and a folded throw!

Well, mine was a long time ago. I had various episodes of leaks and urgency but things went properly wrong in May 1984 and after a hospital stay I started using sheaths (external catheters) and drainage bags. In the UK this is more normal for men than nappies (diapers) and I found it worked very well.
I only had 6 weeks of it, though, before my body gave up using the lower half, due to MS, and I was then a wheelchair user. That dates to June 23 1984. I continued using various drainage things until 18 months ago.
At that point I had noticed that nothing leaked unless I put some work into helping it - pressing on the bladder etc. on consultation I changed to using intermittent catheters (4 times day usually) and am now dry all the time. I've a good capacity too - up to 1.4 litres overnight!

I became incontinent as the result of an unexpected side effect of surgery when I was 14 years old. I do not remember the exact date, but it was in July, 1956. I got to the point where I was generally able to go without a daytime diaper by the time I was 18, but things got worse when I was in my forties. I've been back in diapers 24/7 for the past 30 years or so.

Yes, I see it´s frequent to people to remember the exact date their incontinence began. Personally I do remember the exact day, it was 16 may 2004, but how forget when you have an accident with spinal injury and at first seems I wasn´t going to walk again, wich I very luckily could finally. Anyway, it´s also true a have very good memory and for numbers, dates, etc. so in my case it´s nothing particular cause I do remember much more because of things really stupid, so of course I remeber this one.
Salutations to everybody

Rope, Interesting question. I reread your post and tried to come up with an answer. Yes i remember going from underwear to diapers, Feb. 2004. It sometimes seems like yesterday and other times like a hundred years ago. I was suppose to be in diapers for just 3 months or so, which stretched to 6 months then a year then eleven years. It still angers me. I was back at work in 2 months, fully diapered. Luckily i could go home anytime i needed, i often then needed to. "It is what it is!" They say, Just wish 'it' was easier. Papa

There are so many things I remember, but that date is not among them. No big deal, as long as I can remember my wedding anniversary!
