Hey all..

For those of us in the group who have to use intermittent catheters, i have a trick for minimizing the urine mess produced by hte process. For the longest time, i was always troubled by the spurt of urine that would come out of the catheter after i took it out of my urethra.. Finally, it dawned on me taht the catheter is like a straw.. if you cover one end of it, the liquid will stay in. So, if you cover the end where the urine comes out.. and pull it oout.... all the residual urine is trapped and can be released when its positoned proplerly.. no mess..Tada!

hope this helps someone.

Peace out!

Rob

Good tip. This also applies to folley catheters too, and have experienced the same thing.

I always just remove mine while standing in front of the toilet (or sometimes when in the shower). LOL, it's the only time I ever use the toilet to pee any more.
