Post subject:  Dealing with odor?

Hi everybody,

I'm sure this is an old topic, but I couldn't find anything on it after a search, so I thought I'd ask. I'm urinary incontinent and wear diapers for bed and when I'm out of the house. Even after a shower I smell like old urine. Can anyone recommend anything to help me get rid of the smell?

Thanks,

Seattletown

I shave twice each week, use soap and water at every possible change, take 1/2 of a Nullo tablet at every meal, and wash my diapers in hot water, extended cycle, with Clorox. Good luck.

Yes to all of the above.

Plus, as has been discussed many times, your level of hydration has a significant effect on urine odor.

Also, check out the foods that increase urine odor.

It does sound daft but water helps keep the urine less concentrated and reduces odor. Vitimin C also helps a lot too.

Re Nullo, it does work, even for bowel incontinence. I have used and found it to be quite effective. :D For bowel incontinence I found that I needed to take the higher dosage to obtain the desired results.

Anyone considering taking Nullo should be aware that, in the higher of the recommended dosages, it can be quite constipating. :( That may not be a problem for most, but can affect both bladder and bowel incontinence.

Is Nullo a prescription or OTC? So far just making sure I hydrate has kept the odor at bay, but its good to be prepared for a time that that fails to work! :)

Nullo is OTC; however, it is not available everywhere, so you may have to order it, or ask your pharmacist to order it.
