Earlier today I had my annual appointment with my dermatologist. After she had checked a few suspicious spots, I asked her about the no!no!. She encouraged me to use it, and asked me to report back in because she wanted to know how it worked for the benefit of her other patients. She said that, if the FDA approved it, she would too. If it works as advertised, it could save the aggravation of the nicks, scrapes and ingrown hairs that shaving causes.

I'd be interested to hear if this works, too.

I had professional laser hair removal over the area that would be covered by boxers and have had about a 90% reduction in hair. What is left is very fine and I get touch-ups every 6 months, but would prefer (safe, effective) DIY over continued appointments.

FWIW, the laser has helped my skin health tremendously. No more razor burn or bumps and rashes are rare.

What is the No No?

Porkchop,

As advertised on our television and Sunday newspaper supplements, the no!no! appears to be a hair removal gadget about the size of an electric razor. It appears to work by emitting radiation of some sort that either weakens or destroys hair follicles. Because I'm on a blood thinner, every little nick or cut makes me bleed as though I've been mortally wounded, turning my diapers pink and red for the next three days. If this works as advertised, I will be relieved of pink diapers.

Guys,

The No!No! system uses a heated wire, not radiation.

Opinions are divided re its effectiveness. Consumer Reports panned it. It is slow to use. It took longer to shave than using an electric razor. None of the six testers said that they would buy it. Others say that it works, but that it takes weeks of use and that a crystallized buffer needs to be used after each shaving.

Weekly I totally shave bare with the Phillips/Norelco BodyPro shaver. I am not sure how comfortable it would be having a hot wire shaving my scrotum. :( Let me know how it works for you.

JD,

Thanks for your insight. Although I subscribe to Consumer Reports, I missed that. I'll look into the BodyPro.
