Hello there, Diaperdad, and welcome to our Forum.

No, we've never done an intro thread; I know other forums do have it.....Paul Martin and Owner Schoppy cover the subject "Ideas for the homepage/forum" where you could post your query but they will see it here in "General Discussion".

I've never really thought about it; folks generally tell us they are new when they do a first post and it may be here in General Discussion, or in any of the specific areas below.

We've never done pictures.....an other idea to bring up; I'm not a fan of posting my pic, but others I sure feel differently.

Thank you for your response. I guess that makes sense. Just saying i was looking for it when i signed up here. No big deal. Just nice to have a spot on a forum where the new people can go to introduce them selves instead of having to guess first if introductions are welcomed and two, where to post them.

I get you. Private issue. Pictures....not so good. I guess even just the ability to upload an avatar for the purposes of individuality would suffice although for me, i love posting my beautiful mug.

Wow, diaperdad, that is a great website and I'll need time to really get into it!

Most of us, including me, keep our leakage issues a deep dark secret and often that results in stress-some obvious and some perhaps less obvious- that weighs us down. I think I've certainly come to terms with wearing diapers and I am much more relaxed now and not really caring if someone spots my diaper....and I don't think anyone ever has...tho that is a major fear of most, when they first face dealing with incon by wearing a diaper.

I want to thank you for being open and outgoing and showing the world that some adults wear diapers thru no fault of their own. I suppose you have to fight off diaper lovers and adult babies who want to "take over" your blog.... and that aspect of adult diaper wear is probably more in the forefront than adults with a real problem who simply chose to use diapers to manage their incon. And that doesn't get to the forefront as we, as a group, are so secretive about it.

Yes, diaper stigma remains alive and well, as it has been the last 50 years or so....unfortunately!

Your sense of humor helps... a lot. As in....Gasp....adult diapers....RUN! I loved it!

I think you have an excellent attitude and grasp of what being incon is all about. I think possibly you've been incon for all your life? Not sure but in any event, you are no newbie to the incon world and need to wear protection.

So, while we may not be able to offer you much in the way of guidance and support, you have much to offer us! Your out going attitude may turn off the very conservative folks (who may even condemn you for "flaunting" your diapers), but the fact remains it has long been a "closet" issue and not everyone likes staying in that dark closet forever.

You are setting the example for getting out of the closet, for those who maybe thinking about it but are still too shy to do it. And for those of us not bothered by staying in the closet, we can still enjoy your light hearted approach to this otherwise dreary situation.

I look forward to spending some time perusing your site!

Welcome to the Forum diaperdad, I also commend you for being up front and open about your issues, you are far braver then I am! Not an issue many people think effects anyone younger then 60-70, but it does in a bigger way then they could imagine. With the number of years under your diaper belt, I am sure you have it under control by now, feel free to sharee any tips or info on how you manage things that others may not have tried yet! :) Puffy

I want to thank the both of you for the welcome, for looking at the site and for the encourgement of my openness. I was actually a little concerned about how people here would take my openess. it is after all THE taboo issue. i mean for christ sake you ever watch a toilet paper commercial? they advertise a product for which they cant even talk about what its used for. we are such prudes in this country and I just had enough. that is why i created the site. its funny joe, that you mention abdl folks because ADISC.org was actually the first site I found in 2009 when I started looking for incon support groups online. im still a member to this day as they were the ones who helped push me over the edge with my acceptance of my self and my openness. oh and if you only knew about the things i did as a kid to cope with the stress of foster care and having to wear diapers. let just say you would know why i have compassion in my heart for even abdls.

lastly i may know a lot and have come to grips with being incontinent, i still expect to get a lot out of this site just like i plan to contribute as much as i can.

id love my site to be a companion site to this one.

kevin

Welcome to the forum Kevin. This is a very understanding group of people from all walks of life. I'm Don. When I'm not starting a new job and in the process of moving I'm very active here and I've made some good friends. I too have bladder and bowel incontinence. Mine is the result of a medication I take for a severe and chronic illness known as Bipolar disorder. I have a choice of being continent or in a psych hospital. Ill choose wearing diapers any day over being seperated from my family. I work for a veterans hospital and have told my immediate supervisor of my mental health condition and my need to wear diapers. Like you, I really don't feel like its that big a deal. I don't tell everyone but I have told some friends and family. Everyone is pretty receptive and no one looks down on me. It makes it easier to care for my needs when I don't have to hide or be embarrassed. I can be comfortable around family. My medication is severe and has its side effects but compared to what could happen to me if I don't take it, diapers aren't that bad. So I'm with you. Live life to the fullest despite your dis-Abilities! There are many good people here. Keep posting. Welcome!

Cheers!
