Update

Fri Oct 02, 2015 9:02 pm

Well, I finally took the advice of JohnStone and the other veterans who emailed me and made progress towards getting the VA to cover my diapers. I arranged to be assigned a medical case manager, he's a clinical social worker at the OIF/OEF Clinic, and laid out what was going on. Not only is he going to help my wife get an increase in her Caregiver Support funding, he is trying to help us get a HISA Grant to make my bathroom handicap accessible!! Oh, and he is contacting my Primary Care Doctor (PCP) to arrange an appointment since I had trouble making it through the gatekeepers we sometimes call receptionists. He also pointed out other benefits I didn't know I was entitled too as a combat wounded veteran. Overall, an informative and helpful process!! Forward momentum is always a good thing.

Very good news. It helps when you find that person wanting to help.

Absolutely, and he is going to help my wife with the care giver support stuff too! :)

Agreeing to meet him seems like one of the best decisions I've made in awhile! :D

My new case manager got me an expedited appointment (10-16) with my Primary Care Doctor so I can ask for a prescription for diapers. Might as well get them to pay for the diapers! :)

Great news indeed. When I found out our insurance covers supplies it was a big burden lifted.
