As I am fecal incontinent, I found it very interesting that the Japanese are developing a small electronic sensor that monitors stomach distension to give you about 10 minutes of advance warning of a bowel movement. I do not know how practical it would be, but for me 10 minutes warning of an approaching BM is more than I have had for many years and would prevent my bowel accidents. The device has not yet been manufactured. I think the price was predicted to be about $200.

Good find. I think that could help a lot of people that can't tell when it will happen. The main problem I could see with this device is that people that have no fecal retention may not get a distended stomach before a bowel movement happens. A distended stomach would imply there is a blockage. If the rectum is not working it may not create the blockage needed to cause any distention.

It sounds pretty good as an idea. would quite like something other than just listening for windy noises! Without sensation I have to listen and I am usually successful but this idea might be just the job!
