Hi, everyone. I'm brand new to the forums. Here's my story/question. (Somewhat personal details follow - please don't be offended.)

I have had this issue when I use the toilet (urinating only). About half the time, another large amount of urine will stream out about 15-30 seconds after I've finished and zipped up my pants. I can remedy this by simply standing at the toilet for a while after I've finished, but I was wondering if this merits going to the doctor. Has anyone else experienced something like this and it got worse?

When it comes to the excretory system any kind of odd issues could be a sign of a bigger problem. I've heard of many men with this particular issue, but it never hurts to get checked out.

First, no need to apologize. Everyone here has an incontinence problem, whether bladder or bowel, large or small. It's unlikely you could offend anyone or even surprise anyone.

I've had the problem you describe. My urologist said to stand and relax for a moment, and to run my finger along the underside of my penis from the body outward. In my case that particular thing was not a major problem but uncontrolled dripping and an inability to hold it became a problem rather quickly.

It's possible an enlarged prostate is constricting the urethra a bit so I'd recommend seeing a urologist. You don't say how old you are but it would be good to check your prostate and your PSA level.

Thanks for the responses. I forgot to mention that I'm 22 years old and I have had a prostate exam within the last year for an unrelated issue. (I'm assuming it's unrelated.) At any rate, my prostate seems to be fine.

Another symptom to report - Since the age of 14 I've had really bad "flow issues." It's never been impossible or very difficult to urinate, but the stream is always very weak. In fact, when I wake up in the morning and really have to go, I often feel like I can't get rid of the pressure quickly enough because the stream is so small.

Of course, I know most of you probably aren't medical professionals, but any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That reminds me of the old Hank Hill "narrow urethra."

Seriously though... go have a chat with your physician. Tell him everything you've mentioned here... hopefully he can get you pointed in the right direction.

sounds like it would be a good idea to see a urologist to check there's no urethral obstruction.

Too funny Puddleguy, I thought of the same thing with the Hank Hill story... Could be simple as that, but go see the specialist to find out what is really the actual cause, no point guessing... Puffy
