I have a hip surgery coming up. It's not a replace, just a joint repair. I'm hoping some folks here have had hip surgery and can tell me a few things.

1) Were you able to wear a diaper after surgery, or due to the risk of infection, did you have to manage without?

2) Were you able to change yourself, standing or laying down, a day or two after surgery? If not, when could you do that?

3) If you wore a hip brace, how difficult did it make changing?

I can manage without diapers, so I guess what I'm asking is whether I should plan on not wearing diapers for a while after surgery.

Just had a total hip replacement last month. It was a Anterior procedure, so hopefully this will have some relevance.

1) Were you able to wear a diaper after surgery, or due to the risk of infection, did you have to manage without?

I was able to wear diapers. I had brought my own to the hospital and was very glad I did as I was staying the night. The first time I had to change The nurse didn't know I had my own and brought me what the hospital had. I would rather have risked wearing a store brand.

2) Were you able to change yourself, standing or laying down, a day or two after surgery? If not, when could you do that? The first time, I needed help in bed changing. For the most part getting it underneath me. The next day I was able to change it myself standing up.

3) If you wore a hip brace, how difficult did it make changing? didn't have to wear a brace, there was a plastic cover over the bandage.
