I was glad to read that you have had medical appointments and that you are coming along nicely. Imodiium and I do not like each other. It gives me a colon blockage; diarrhea develops upstream of the blockage, seeps past it, and I soil myself, sometimes catastrophically. I hope it will work for you.

Hi Patrick
Thank you for the kind words of encouragement.
So far, so-so. Another close call yesterday. Fortunately, I was home, but barely made it in time. Beginning to think it’s a dairy product or egg sensitivity as my doctor suggested.

Patrick,
The exact same thing happens to me. Overflow diarrhea then incontinence. I used to take Imodium. My GI at Mayo Clinic forbid it. I was diagnosed with pelvic floor dyssynergia. I was diagnosed with gastroparesis as well. I have trouble eating and sometimes vomit...including medication. It’s rough. I have diarrhea every morning shortly after waking. Happens several times then it usually passes within a couple hours. I hate it.

I guess I want more support from my doctors. However, I do get that here. Gastroparesis can make daily life (management) extremely difficult. My gastroenterologists (both physicians and medical doctors) behaved more like mechanics and less like empathetic advisors. Which is where pelvic floor physical therapists enter the picture. They understand our predicament from both a medical professional point of view, and also from our patients' perspective. The most careful dietary and medication management will not prevent vomiting, gastric pain, colon blockages, and diarrhea. GP is not for folks who are easily embarrassed, easily frustrated, or self-indulgent.

Thanks for letting me vent.
