Coming into my apartment tonight I've noticed my apartment smells like urine. Predominantly in my bedroom. I dont have windows in my bedroom and since it is cold out the heat is on so that doesn't help. I've sprayed some febreze type stuff but I dont think it helped that much. The odor isnt terrible but it's there.

What can I do?

Use an ultraviolet light to see where the urine is. Dried urine will fluoresce in ultraviolet light. That will indicate the areas that need cleaning the most.

Have you wet the mattress?

John - I have a mattress protector that I think needs to be replaced. But yea I have leaked on the bed a few times. I usually lay on a disposable pad plus a reusable pad but a few times I've managed to leak into the bed (its talent I guess. Hahahah)

I'm looking to replace my whole bedroom set when I get some money. Is there any way I can treat the mattress itself? Thanks

look into a product called Kids n Pets Instant All-Purpose Stain And Odor Remover. It can be found at various stores in the cleaning aisle. Look for the yellow label. I use it and it does great.

So I got rid of my blanket, washed the mattress protector, and got a new comforter (thanks guy on our local listserv who gave it to me!) And put a new fitted sheet on.

All that to say the smell is gone.

So yea

@JustEJ: Glad it all worked out!

That sounds drastic, but if it worked, hooray!
