I happen to know that Wetters is a very good writer, and I'd totally buy that book. I'm guessing there's a lot I don't know about diapers, and I'm definitely a dummy. :-)

No slight to the primer intended, Schoppy. There's a lot of information in there, and I've read about half of it--the half that most directly applies to me, of course. From what I've seen, it's well written and very comprehensive. If you did it, well done. If it was someone else, kudos.

Have I missed something here? I thought we were doing lighthearted humor.

It's ok Wetters. The conversation has shifted multiple times and I'm not sure we used the clutch!

My guess is that "night" is the operative word - not meant for daytime use, and "proof" meaning it can take anything the night throws at it, as in "goof-proof" and "fool-proof".

how about the over-engineered, super-diaper!

(that some of us end up needing, especially at night)

When it comes to rated capacity, all diapers are tested with distilled, or filtered water. You are not going to get the same absorbancy with real usage. The salt, and other minerals that is in urine severely diminishes the ability of the polymer crystals to absorb. I am just guessing, but I would estimate that there is a 75% reduction in absobency.

I think all diaper tests are flawed anyway. Most of the time they use a cylindrical glass beaker with liquid in it and a plug at the bottom. They wrap the diaper around it and pull the plug. So the liquid flows straight down into the diaper. So, the liquid does not flow the way it would flow out of the body, doesn't have the same compounds to it, doesn't have the same temperature to it, et cetera. There are many reasons why I don't think they are accurate.
