Well.. my sample pack came from the insurance medical supplier with briefs for me to try.. they sent me samples of Attends Breathable (regular, NOT extra absorbent like ive been wearing), Wings 3D (wings with single tape with cloth backing and hook and loop), Wings quilted style with hook and loop..and prevail.. Not sure if any of these are going to cut it aborbency wise without some seious boosting. I am a llite disappointed they didnt have Tena Ultra anymore, as those would have been perfect.. they served me very well before..but oh well..what can you do..its insurance. Now, some of these ive never tried, but the thought i have is if this is all insurance can provide...i might want to seriously consider using cloth Granted there are times where I only spurt a little and can wait to change... but then again, I was using the best briefs locally that money could buy.. the attends breathable extra absorbent..I think the extra abosrbnet made a difference. Not sure if the diapers they sent are up to the challenge of keeping my pants dry until i can change. I'm not sure if id trust them in public. But, they would be free.. so I might get away with just using htem at home and wearing the breathable in public..or maybe switch to Gary's brand. Has anyone tried the diapers i mentioned? Right now i have one of the 3D wings on.. second one out of the 2 brief sample.. First sample i tore the tape as i was applying it..Of curse, with a cloth back product one does need to be more careful to not rip the tabs..but at least with other standard brands ofcloth backed, youd have 2 tabs per side. In the past, when i ripped of tabs (at walmart trying to change) i was able to get away with it by pasting the velcro tab in between the diff parts of the brief to hold it on.. not sure if i could get away with that with these. Another serious concern is padding coverage.. sorry for the graphic detail here, but if im pointed uprght and leak... i dont know if the padding would cover it..the men out there know exactly what im talking about.. padding coverage in the front is one of the primary reasons i wear briefs in the first place versus pullups.. yeah, i know they say to point downward..but honestly.. sometimes it doesnt stay pointed down, and i have enough to worry about at work to not have to check where im pointed every 15 minutes. Ill post later when I have tried the other briefs on.. any comments or suggestions in the meantime would be appreciated..

I've been hearing people say for years that you should point your penis down, toward the crotch, but this is not only uncomfortable for me, but, as you said, it doesn't stay there. The moment I sit down I either get pain, or my penis pops right back up again, pointing up to the front of the diaper. I wish it weren't so, since I always feel like so much of my diapers go unused.

a trick that works for me is to fold a booster pad into thirds and place it in the front. It acts both as a dam and pushes down on the "offending member" lol

I've done that, too, with a pull-up. I'm a woman, and of course I don't have a problem during the day, but I sleep on my stomach. Wetness tends to pool under my belly, and a couple of pads - Poise, Tena, Rite Aid - whatever I have available - positioned horizontally, work great.

Geek, I have the Wings HL3D right now, they are cheap, but they work ok for the fairly light incontinence that I have. My only complaint with them is that I feel like my cheeks hang out the back......I have worn the Wings quilted diapers, those are ok as well.....And I also currently have a bag of Attends breathable regular briefs, these seem nice, they are cloth and they are fairly quiet and discreet, they seem to be the thickest in the front of all three I am talking about. When I wear them, I feel very bulky in the front, which I think is a good thing, with the leaking and dripping I have after urination I am unlikely to suffer a leak or failure with the relative bulk of the Attends breathable. I have had Ok luck with all three of them so far, though. But I don't usually flood or have complete emptying of my bladder unexpectedly.....I am able to make it to the toilet and just leak and dribble after that.......Most commonly a pad/pull-up combo works fine for me but when I am at home I prefer the security of a regular diaper......good luck!! You are lucky that your insurance will cover diapers, most of ours will not........

Yeah, i currently use Attends Breathable Extra Absorbent.. they work fairly well.. Seems theres a delay in getting the scripts from my doctor for the supplies J and B rep said it would take 2 weeks to process.. heh.. they wont even let me choose what courier sends my products.. they ONLY send via fedex.. now, while that might get here faster.. they buzz my apartment and wake me up.. I don't know, seems like J&B medical has gone down somewhat in quality since i dealt with htem last. Product selection definitely has...

yeah, im with you, pb&J...i dont trust ANYTHING other than a brief because quite simply i never know when im going to just dribble or when im going to flood... sure,the wings might hold one or two wettings, but can they take 3 without leaking??? I want protection thats proven... quite frankly, i dont trust off brands like wings... Yes, i am lucky that i can get medicaid.. without them iid have to use cloth because disposables get expensive and i cant afford that expense. Actually, if my incon doesnt go away it may make sense to buy Gary's A+ 4 diapers for work and use the insurance diapers for home. That way, id only use 2 a night if i got used to working in a wet diaper..

By the way, i don't want to sound like a pessimist, but my control seems to be getting worse It used to be that at times id be able to spurt a little in the diaper, but then hold it back in the toilet, but lately when i have a flood like that it all comes out before i can get my pants down, despite squeezing it. I don't know, maybe I am overprotecting myself padding wise, but on the other hand.. can one really measure how much he or she floods just by feel??? not really. So, id rather wear a product that i know unequivically can handle the onslught rather than wear a lighter product and hope for the best.
I don't know how id classify my incon, but its defintely on the heavy side sometimes. But heres the strange thing..i wouldn't call it urge..more like mixed stress and overflow.. ok... im gettin hungry.. a plate of food is definetly callin my name .. I have an appointment with a nurse practitioner tomorrrow..let ya'll know what happens!

darn right its uncomfotable especially in certian situations..not going to go into further detail..guys know what i mean.. and as far as much of the diaper gets unused..according to the diaper primer, thats par for the course with disposables, since a lot of them dont wick very well.. By the way..gary's a+ 3 and 4 diapers are changing that with disposables..i was amazed at how well they wicked.. ttyl!

Regarding diapering "up" or "down," another consideration for those of us who are bowel incontinent is that diapering with the penis pointed upward places the urethra further away from contact with fecal material.

This reduces the likelihood of UTIs. IMHO an important consideration for those of us who do not find it uncomfortable.

A minor advantage is that it makes more efficient use of the often unused absorbent mat in the front of the diaper.

With the top tapes of the diaper placed for a snug fit, I have not experienced leaks over the top of the diaper.
