Aw man, I've been there so many times I feel your pain with something like 20-30 surgeries in the past 20 years (I lost count). You have my sympathies.

And fyi, flying within a week or two after a major surgery is very frowned upon. Especially for anything from the waist down. Half because you will be seated for too long which restricts blood circulation, and the other half because of the cabin air humidity and low pressure which wreaks havoc on your body to begin with.

If you can wait at least one week after your surgery before flying, I would highly recommend you wait (really a month or longer is better- trust me, I know from experience).

Brian - yea I have about a 4 month recovery time (at best) so I'll probably wait a month after surgery before going to see my parents.

I'm pretty sure I've got everything in place. I've done my pre-op paperwork, I have my primary care physician appointment on Wednesday for my pre-op eval, I've called the hospital to make sure everything is set, i got a knee scooter from a friend yesterday, and I've got a case of confidry coming on Wednesday as well. we are working on getting me a home health aid, but that's not looking too promising.

Add my best wishes to those above. My guess is that the members here have had more experience with surgeries than any random group of folks elsewhere. I hope you have been able to use your pre-admission tests to inform the staff of your incontinence and how they will need to handle it.
