I apologize for the lengthiness of this email but it needed
to be done so you can see what I went thru by chance this time (unlike the
many other times it did not pan out). I have been a lurker in this and many
other incon chat rooms over the years but mostly silent. I find good
helpful advice some of which turned out a benefit to me.

I wanted to share this with you concerning my 9+ years of disappointments in
the disposible but mainly reusable industry. I have sent emails and letters
to all the disp. companies and all I get back from them is thank you for
sending us your concerns and about 2 weeks later get supplies from them that
DO NOT work! They just don't get it about gravity and men. I have done
this with reusable vinyl and diaper companies about their shortcoming and
the vinyl industry is finally coming around in the USA. I was forced to buy
from Canada, Britain, Germany, Sweden and the likes of those countries
because they take incontinence seriously and make the garments so they WORK!
I had some from a company that worked in Britain but the owner died and they
do not exist. I by chance hooked up with this lady in Canada only because I
won a bid on something that looked so much like the infant diapers and they
are. I thought, gee I know the tots diaps. work quite well. I received the
first one and oh my GOD, it was so comfy and padded. It felt secure not
matter what position I was in. I tried sleep and it worked darn good but I
wanted 1000% guarantee and so I started a conversation about gravity and
men. I told her in no way I wanted to chase her away by my conversation. I
needed desperate help and was so upset nobody can help us tummy sleepers
much less men with gravity issues and angles and dangles. She was so
gracious and without a doubt concerned. She sent me the most touching
letter back and I knew she was serious to help me. And that she did! Here
is what happened below:

I have come accross a company in Canada who specialized in baby diapers,
covers and other items. I found out about this company by accident when I
started bidding on ebay early this year. I noticed the diapers that
resemble a wrap like the infants and was willing to try them once I won a
bid and was sent the item. I have been thru junk diapers for years that are
like the porrage that was not just right.

I am a 24/7 incon who has had 5 heart attacks and 5 heart operations and
still is tickin. On the 3rd operation, I found out about incontinence and
reality. They had complications that resulted in incontinence. Been thru
all the tests and they told me get used to diapers, you are going to need
them the rest of your life. The meds were tried but I had glaucoma, did not
know it and almost lost my sight.

I am a stomach sleeper and never have had a dry night as the result of a
good quality diaper. I have so many diffferent types of diapers but none
work at night, that is until recently.

Once I won that bid, I started talking to a lady at that place of business.
She said it is ok to give this information out.
Email address is: babylove@cable-lynx.net Her site name on ebay is:
motheringnaturally
Her Business name is: KIDALOG.NET
She formally called her business Baby Love Products.
The ladies name I have been talking alot with is Ms. Grace....she is located
in Alberta Canada. She has been in the business many years.
I told her of my problem and she stated she does not post near all of the
adult line of products that include diapers, covers, etc. that they provide online.
She then told me trust me and let me work with you and I will design a new
diaper just for you guys (especially for you) that will work and give you
those *dry* nights you and your wife would love to have. Tell me all so I
will know how to make this diaper for you.
I did and gave away my secrets (to me they are) and she
made me 5 pair. I will tell you what she did. The outside is thick terry
and the inside is very soft flannel thick and in the middle area I would say
9 or more inches across the crotch area and from the front to the back is
soaker. I opened up the garment and inside she had a layer (thick just like
the soaker sown inside) soaker outside but his was sown only to the front
top all the way across. When putting on the diaper, simply lay it across to
the back and put diaper on. The reason for sown only across the front is
drying time for the garment. I can dry this garment in the Louisiana sun
and heat in 8 hours, bone dry....that saves on wear of the garment (lint
which is material over time). It comes out so smelly fresh doing this
outside and I do it in the shade of the trees along with my vinyl pants.
But, I noticed when I told her about large being my size that when you add
this filler, large is snug but still usable. I plan to use these only for
daytime once the xl diapers that are being made now arrive.

I have used this diaper at night and guess what, on my stomach, no leaks
anymore, nor even on my side. She knew what she was doing and built me a
top quality diaper adult size and so darn comfortable and works, I can't
tell you the soakup amount but it is a whole lot more than I will ever do in
a night. These diapers are made like a Dappi Diaper and so comfortable the
way they wrap around all of you. I finally have that wonderful *SECURE*
feeling for the very first time in my life. I can't get over the feel and
comfort of this diaper she made and it actually works like a gem, with
plenty, plenty of absorbancy to spare once a void happens.

But that isn't all, she contacted me this morning and asked me if I wanted
for her to make me a new pattern of nighttime in a larger with
modifications. I was of course jumping with joy and obliged her. She
indicated she will now make the filler inside between the fabrics the same
but outside will match the shape of the diaper and sew again all the way
across the front and will put velcro because of the loose ones I now have of
riding abit and wedgies happening. It is a simple fix, go in the bathroom
and adjust. It does not happen often but is a problem.
She indicated she would put those double over velcro so that when you wash
them, they don't stick to anything. She will put a line across the top back
of the diaper and attach 2 pieces to the soaker that comes up the back.

I can tell you I never thought anybody would get it right with the fellows.
She told me she was concerned simply because of the tone of my email to her.
She cared about me and (men in general) and was going to devote her time and
effort to remedy us. I told her gravity is a wonderful thing for most
applications but not incon men. There is plenty I had to say but graciously
to her. She is indeed a lady. I have corresponded to her many times over
this time and she did what she said she would do of me and if anybody else
is interested.

This is the reason I have forewarded this email to you so that if there are
any other men out there who are fed up with disposible not working worth a
hoot and reusable not doing what you want unless you stuff your vinyl pants
with towels and oh brother been down that road, try to sleep a good nights
sleep with that! This lady Ms. Grace did it for me. I knew there was a
way, I did not give up.

BTW, I don't work for her, don't care to get involved other than help fix
this problem. She has put alot of time into a remedy with patterns between
her and her seamstress. I am awaiting my nighttime diaper. They are being
made this week. She also told me she can modify diapers to accommodate
whatever situation a person may have and all you need to do is tell her and
she will make those adjustments.

The other thing I urge is if someone wants diapers made like this, order
next size. There is no way you will fit in the size you normally wear. I
have a test size one size larger and they are big but she told me wait til
these arrive, they will not only fit you but they should be more comfortable
than the large size you now have on. The ones I have on if I don't bend
down, nobody can tell I have them on except those who are incon or a medical
profession can always spot us! She told me I hope you don't think you are
going to wear the ones I am making for you right now out in public! She
also told me I won't waddle around but there is bulk and it works quite
well! She is my gem! At this time I am like puddy in her hands. I can't
believe someone understands us guys and our problems. The large size I
flood sometimes during the day does not even appear to be soaked. That is
how good these are plus they worked at night but abit snug. I know those
coming will work even better. There will be modifications with more filler
than the first several ones she made for me.

She does not post too many items for the adults but will make anything you
wish and it does not cost anything what you might think. The last 5
garments she made in large with shipping and extra filler ran me $90 bucks.
These diapers in xlarge that she is making because I have worked with her
will cost me under $100. for 5 diapers. I could not believe the cost
average per diaper. Of course, if you order one or fewer, it will cost a
tad more. I am not posting her pricing, only giving you an idea of the cost
per diaper she charged me thru the development phase.

I wanted to share this information as to what I have been up to and the
product that works this lady designed for me. I told her I was going to
shout this to the incon world so if they are one of those folks who are
having this problem, there is a diaper out there that will in reality do
more than what you ask it to do.

I have taken this issue to the chat rooms so person having leaking problems
but especially men can order one diaper and I guarantee they will order many
more from that point on.

Thank you for your time,

Sincerely,

Bob in Louisiana

I use Attends with the elastic waistband and 6 tapes. They work best at night, though I would like to try the Abena X-plus, as they seem to be very good. What's the thought on that diaper, overall? Is the cost of them worth it?

I have used the Abena X-plus many times, I personally think they are the best disposable diaper around and well worth the extra cost of them.

But I am also not just bladder incont, im also bowel incont.

I normally will use the cloth diapers from www.angelfluff.com for night time use as they work best for me. I do have to wash them, but they are a lot cheeper in the long run. Being on a fixed income and not able to work, I have to watch my budget each month.

There is a wonderfull diaper doubler available that really extends the use of any diaper. They are available from http://www.xpmedical.com/ and they are made by Abena. They are a lot longer than others and hold a lot.

Schoppy,

It must be very difficult to deal with your incontinence situation having both urinary and bowel incontinence. When we were faced with decisions on protective products for our daughters that suffer, fortunately, only from enuresis, the incontinence advisor at the urologist office suggested looking into a cloth diaper service. We did, and found that the volume we use did not jusifty their minimum weekly quantity. However, in speaking with the diaper service representative, she mentioned that they effectively handle adult diapers that have been soiled with both urine and bowel movements. Maybe you should look into a diaper service to handle the laundry of your soiled cloth diapers.

Hello Marie

A diaper service would be great and would defiantly make my life a lot easier.
I have checked into them and unfortunately there isn't any in my area, I wish there was. I know that in some areas there are diaper services that are still around and that do service adult diapers. Seams like the disposable diapers have put most of them out of business. :(

I am lucky in one area, I am a disabled vet and the local VA Hospital does supply me with my disposables (even if they are a cheep brand) and they will pay for my cloth diapers and plastic pants. Angelfluff Diaper Company does work with the VA system and will supply cloth diapers and plastic pants to any vet that will go through the hassle of getting them approved with their local VA hospital.

Like I said, it is a little hassle to get the VA hospital to approve the use of cloth diapers and plastic pants and I can help any vet go through the process of getting them approved. You just have to get your Dr to write a prescription for them and also talk to the main pharmacy office (not where you get the prescriptions filled) in the hospital to see what it will take to get them approved. I had to write a note stating that the disposables didn’t work for me at night and that I needed the cloth diapers. In the long run, they actually save money. They also had to be approved by the pharmacy board and that can take a couple months depending on when the board has their meeting.

Also talking to the patient rep that is in any VA hosp can also help get through the process. I highly recommend talking to the patient rep for their help on getting through the process of getting the cloth diapers approved. They know the system a lot better then we do and what it will take to get through it. You just have to insist that the cloth diapers are needed and that the disposables don’t work at night. Of course, you have to be pre-approved to use the disposables before you can ask for the cloth diapers.

Once approved, all I have to do now is when I need to place another order with Angelfluff (usually 1-2 times a year) I fill out the order form on the Angelfluff homepage, print it out and turn it into the pharmacy office at my local VA hosp. They then call it in with the order number on the order form and in a short time I receive my package.

I just wish that they would wash them, hehehehe

You can see what products are offered by looking at the Angelfluff homepage at http://www.angelfluff.com

I hope that this will help other vets get through the hassle and the process of getting the cloth diapers approved. In my opinion, the cloth diapers work best at night time and also around home. Away from home I will use the disposable diapers.
