Disposables or cloth diapers? And why?

New ways to use my unuseable diaper inserts

Fri Sep 12, 2014 2:12 pm

I found out my skin hurts when in contact with attends.
For several months now, I have wondered what to do with all the remaining inserts.
I do not want to sell them, as I have gotten them from our health care system, and if I sold them, I would probably meet those with a more interest than real need.
For a period I had one under my sofa, using it to clean up spilled coffee.
Then I used one to dry up the spilling water cleaning a window. It worked fine, but it felt weird. Diapered window?
It also felt wrong, as it was not what I had gotten them for.

Finally I found a way to use them.
During my ordeal with kidney stones and a lot of other issues, I got the idea to add them to the cloth diaper I wear over my disposables at night.
They are in safe distance from my skin, and still do their job, which was needed, as I tried to flush out the stones.
I was terrified to have a wet bed, as I was in a too bad shape to be able to clean it up.
It worked perfectly. Not one wet spot. :D

I will at later occations also use doublers between the diaper and my PUL covers.
Especially when not sleeping at home, as wet cloth diapers are a lot harder to deal with, or hide..
Then all I need to clean is a nylon fixation pant.
Sleeping over at my friends house has suddenly become easier. (her kids don't know)

I have had the same skin issues with the Wellness Diapers and a few others, glad I wasn't the only one having reactions to whatever they put into some of these diapers.

As for your extra inserts, you could always donate them to the various thrift shops near you! :)
