BOTH cloth and disposable diapers

I realize there may be folks who will wear ONLY cloth diapers and others who will wear ONLY disposable diapers and their arguments in favor of their choice of diaper makes for interesting reading. Within each major type (cloth vs disposable) there are lots more choices and that makes for endless discussion, all of which is good and keeps forums rocking.

I'd like to point out early on that both cloth and disposable diapers can be the "best diapers", depending on circumstances and, of course, your personal needs and preferences. I am the same JoeK from the old IRC Forum and No, I've no idea what happened to Beeter. I am considered the "cloth diaper guru", a title bestowed by Beeter, so I am clearly biased toward cloth diapers. But with the remarkable changes in disposable diapers and the now available European diapers I've had to change my views and disposables play a major role now in my incon management.

Incontinent folks turning to diapers to manage their leakage will most logically try disposable diapers at first and after becoming confident with the use of disposable diapers may turn to cloth diapers for overnight use in the privacy of their homes. I think a lot of folks will use both diapers; chosing high cost disposables for the stealt afforded under clothes while out and about in the world and the lower ongoing cost of reusable cloth diapers for wear around the house and overnight when the bulkiness is of no concern.

Exactly my strategy, Joe! However, I don't necessarily limit my cloth wearing to home. Rather, I wear cloth most of the time on weekends, when I'll be back home in a short while or can get back easily if needed. Cloth is simply more comfortable to me, and I'm not particularly concerned if others see my "poofy" butt from cloth diapers.

OTOH, disposables simply make more sense at work, where wet ones can be tossed easily and I don't have to worry about carrying wet cloth home. I tried that with velcro fitted flannels for a while, but simply find it much easier to wear disposables there.

I agree, wearing disposables away from home is a lot easier to change than dealing with wet cloth diapers and trying to get them back home.
Not to mention trying to find a place to change the cloth diapers.
But around home I think cloth is much better and cheeper in the long run.

I've been incontinent all my life. I've dealt with it in many different ways over the years, including wearing diapers, reducing the ammount of fluids I drink at a time and just peeing in the toilet before I leave to go anywhere. I've found that wearing diapers is the best way for me to deal with incontinence. For most of my life, I've been wearing disposable diapers. I'd wear cloth diapers more often if I knew where to buy them, what the best cloth diapers for my situation and if I knew how to pin them on. I'm from Seattle, Washington and would love to meet someone in my area who is also incontinent and wears cloth diapers. i'm active. I exercise. I love to swim. When it's not raining (like it is now), I like to go for a walk outside. It's not like I'm senile or bedridden. I just have a wetting problem and I'm looking for a way to deal with it.

While I agree, disposables have come a long way, in my book they do not yet offer the absorbency and security of washables. I use disposables primarily when I travel, but that is all. Carl

Hi all i like the posts on cloth vs throw aways I've tried alot throw aways but all leak,on the cloth diapers most are more expensive and hate to wast money so if you have info on cloth diapers would like you imput.THANKS RON
