Hi everyone, I just recently had a change in my insurance providers for diapers, which is now Edgepark. Before the change I had been getting by using Tranquility ATN (which isn't absorbent enough for me, I go through several a day.) my new provider carries a much wider selection of products to choose from. One of the new diapers to choose from is Abena abri-form premium RB43068. I have used abena abri-form xplus (plastic backed) diapers in the past and was impressed by them. My question is if the Abena abri-form premiums are compare-able to the plastic backed versions and if the premiums would be better than Tranquility atn in terms of absorbancy and leak protection?

I would bet they will be better then the ATN ones, I recall trying them and they were not even as good as the Tena Supers. Abena makes a good product, they should work for you, :) Puffy

Agreed, Abena makes a great diaper. I have been using the L2's plastic backed for about a year for the day time and they work perfect for me. Sad thing is just as I find a diaper I like, fits great and can get me about 8 hours, they discontinued them. Only good thing was Gary from XP medical kept me up to date on there supply and I managed to stock pile about a years supply.

You sound like me Rope, stock up big when what you use goes on sale. My supply is rarely below 4 bags, never have the worry of running out! Puffy

Well, after a week of wearing the Abena abri-form L4 premiums, I am definetly impressed with them, A LOT less diaper changes, I'm able to actually get a full nights rest without the diaper leaking onto the bed halfway through the night. Unlike the tranquility ATN, The abenas last until I wake up in the morning when I start my day, with not 1 leak on my bed so far :) . Only complaint I have of the abena premiums is the cloth backing, I'm used to plastic backing which has way better odor control and easier to put on. Also the abena premium tapes tend to pop off easily when trying to make the diaper fit snugly, so I end up having to use masking tape for a proper fit. I recently talked to my provider and found out they do carry the plastic backed verison, the Abri Form Comfort Extra Plus Large (Item # RB4168). So next month I will be trying those.

Tom,

I think you will love the plastic backed ones just fine. The tranquility ATN for me were just horrible. They did not hold what i needed and the absorbent material turned into somekind of wet slime when wet and would break away and bunch up. When i would wake up i had a hugh pile of this slime at my backside and it felt like i had dropped a load in it during the night. the Abenas will work perfect and if your insurance will pick them up, the fact that they are expensive wont matter. good luck with them.

I agree that the Abena level 4 diapers are the best high-capacity diaper in the market today. In North America, they are available in both a plastic backed version and with cloth like covers. I prefer plastic backing, but that's just a personal preference.
