I didn't know where to ask this question, but does anyone have issues with rawness on your hips/sides of waist from disposable diapers? If so, how did you manage this, or is there no solution?

Do you mean irritation or a rash?

Do you sleep on your side?

Do you have to change during the night? How long do you wear your diapers before changing?

What kind of diaper are you wearing? Please be specific.

I'm sure the group will be able to provide some useful suggestions.

I'll try to clarify my question. I wear tape on plastic coated diapers during the day. The feeling I'm trying to describe is not a rash. It's an irritation on my skin that comes from the plastic that is overlapped on the wings of the diaper. I try to smooth it out as while I'm taping it on, but I can still feel it. Maybe I'm just overly sensitive in that area.

First I don't use disposables often. When I do they are Northshore regular Supremes or Megamax.
I have had a rash develop on waist and sides(hips) with the Megamax disposables. Best I can guess it has to do with the outer plastic tape landing zone being folded under and against my skin. Now I'm carful to flatten the inside of the disposable against my hip and waist before taping any disposable. That seems to pretty much eliminate the problem.
Side note: For me the Supremes absorb and work as well as the Megamax, so I have stopped buying/using the max's.

You guys probably have identified the problem - plastic in direct contact with the skin in an area. This may be related to "contact dermatitis."

I suspect that two things I do might help. First, "air out" the irritated area daily with no diaper over it. Second, apply a lotion. As you do not have full diaper rash, almost any light lotion should help.
