Because my GI system is paralyzed, my therapy sessions are mostly devoted to discussing diet and medications. At the conclusion of my session today, I stood to leave and carelessly put my hand in my pocket. Mistake. Make that a misteak. My therapist noted that I have a brain injury and an inner ear disease. If (when) I have a bowel accident, or stumble and fall, my hands need to be at the ready, which they cannot be if they're in my pockets. Lesson learned.
