My SPC was successfully placed yesterday. I woke up in quite a bit of pain. They did a cystoscopy during surgery to help place the catheter and it burned SO bad. Probably because I had a foley in for a month. They ended up giving me 3 rounds of fentanyl I was finally comfortable enough to go home. The pain I had since being home is no walk in the park. My complex regional pain syndrome flares when I have pain in other parts of my body.

I am not sure I have fully accepted my normal yet. Its....hard. In time hopefully things will get better and I will get a break from medical crap.

One day at a time.

Hopefully this gives you some relief. So sorry you need such a drastic intervention. I hope your pain subsides quickly and you adjust to your new situation quickly and comfortably. I'm praying for you. Hang in there!

Rob

We're all thinking of you Elijah! One day at a time is a good approach.

Add my support and concern. Fentanyl? That's one powerful pain killer, with the distinct risk of addiction over time. I hope it works for you and that you soon will be on the mend.

Thanks guys. This has all been an extremely stressful situation. My insurance company has decided they will not pay for my catheter supplies. Only the catheter that is inside my body. Im fighting it, but its SO taxing. I spend my days constantly on the phone. I drained my account getting what I need for now, but I am on disability. Its not sustainable. And I have no choice but to have this thing.

I deal with bad insomnia anyway and this isn't helping. There have been so many tears shed. What I wouldn't give to be able to manage with diapers again. Count your blessings.

Patrick - I was given fentanyl in the hospital after surgery. I am not on it now.
