Re: Buying Diapers Internationally

Fri Jun 16, 2017 11:19 am

It was last November the 25th when I fell in the Dubai International Airport and broke my left hip. I had hip replacement surgery at the Mayo Clinic Phoenix Arizona on December the 1st 2016. Then (post surgery) blood clots appeared in my right lung and I spent 3-1/2 months on a blood thinner. My wife and I spent five full months living in hotel / motel rooms. We did not want to return to Alaska and risk me falling in the winter snow / ice.

As I write these few check-in words, finally, on June the 16th 2017, I can say that I am finally feeling really better. Looking back in time, I can see that I entered a depressive episode as I recovered from the surgery and from the fact of the event. In fact I feel so good that I now plan to return back to Hong Kong and to Mongolia. No more travel in India however, after 27-years of traveling in India it is just too dangerous and risky in the event one needs medical care (read entering a hospital) in India.

Your above words of support mean a great deal to me, thus, this check-in. Still Managing to Smile. Tewi

Hi!
After seeing everybody posted here their photos of the diapers for us all around the world...then I put in here mines of the diapers in a pharmacy in Kyôtô, Japan, even if i did it when I came back a couple of months ago. A lot of products, and even with their liquid capacity in c.c. Japan is very advanced in that market and very comprehensive in general (or at least that was my impression)

Best regards,
Lord Duque

FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE.. Part 1. I am back in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, after a trip into Russian Siberia. Guess what? The products we need are available even in Russian Siberia.

Made in Turkey.

Their green or blue color takes me back years ago to the Depend Brand that were also a similar color.

You will notice that for a size medium, these diapers are extremely wide at the waist. They are more like a size large. There is a lot of wrap-around the waist material. Also note that there are no raised leakage guards in the crotch area.

FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE .. PART 2. The I Love You diapers. Here are some photos of the second package I purchased while in Russia. I found it amusing that they say I Love You on their front panels. In fact the packaging is just clear plastic with NO information whatsoever about the manufacturer. Nothing. Just the diapers in a clear plastic shrink wrap package. They look good. They fit good. They feel good. Their absorbency is MARGINAL at best.

This will be it from Mongolia for awhile at least. A week ago I awoke with a pain in my lower left abdomen. My Mongolian Doctor did a hands on, an ultra-sound and a CT Scan. He said I have a tumor in my left kidney and STRONGLY SUGGESTED that I return to the United States immediately. I do NOT have any health insurance for medical costs here. I will go to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

The I Love You diapers. There is absolutely no information about the product or who the manufacturer is or the size. Just plain clear shrink wrap packaging.

I Love You too.

The I Love You motif. You are looking at the outside of the diaper. The wide plastic front panel is excellent for removing and re-fastening the side tapes.

You can see the leakage barriers in this photo. You can also see they are sized correctly as medium. There is not the excess of material the other package made in Turkey had.

These have the raised leakage barriers along the sides of the diaper.

My wife (coming from Alaska) and I (flying in from Mongolia to Hong Kong to Seattle to Minneapolis, Minnesota) made it safely to the Mayo Clinic here in Rochester, Minnesota. My Mayo Doctor confirmed the validity of my Mongolian Doctor's diagnosis. I DO indeed have an issue with my left kidney. My Mayo Doctor (based on tests and a CT Scan and his experience) said that the chance is less than 1% that a primarily water filled cyst is malignant. He said a biopsy has a 12% change of raising issues and problems in and of itself. We decided NOT to do a biopsy. So we will 'watch' this cyst and in six months revisit it. I feel dead-on-my-feet. The 12-hour jet lag I am now experiencing is brutal. The long flights were brutal.

I send my THANKS TO YOU WHO ARE SUPPORTING me with your comments and interest. Your support means a great deal to me. Over and Out for now my friends.
