It has been turbulent in my life for quite a while now. Really tough work mentally, and at times I have been really ill.
Somehow, I have had a feeling that this escalating of chrisis was not purely destructive. I had more of the feeling that this was some kind of mental birth.
A few weeks ago, I started to recognize my diapers lasted longer. I would switch over to pullups instead of tapeons, and more and more, I would change them for other reasons than wetting them.
I still have to wear protection at all time, as I still do never know when I lose it.
I had lost all hope of seeing an improvement, so it takes time to get used to this.
The challenge now it that it is a gambling between the convenience of a pullup, and security. The risk of leaks is larger.
It is a totally new landscape to navigate in.
I am also working on improving my IBS, as this is in many ways a psychosomatic illness. Giving in is not an option!

Writing this as I enjoy ginger tea and the Pink Floyd album Wish you were here.

Optimist,

Glad you are doing better. Re choices in protection, don't forget the old adage, "Better to bulge than too leak."

I agree, but I still have the challenge that my stomach is very sensitive to elastics, so it is a constant balancing of advantages and risks.
If I am at home, I can take more risks. If I have too much elastics, it can take days for my intestines to recover.
High waist PUL covers has helped this a lot, as the elastic is placed over the sensitive area. Bulge is not much of a problem, as I usually wear skirts and dresses.

Two steps forward, hopefully only one step back...
The good thing is that I have had a taste of something of the future.
At least, losing control is nothing new to me, so I do not panic over this.
The challenge is to adapt the protection so it does not add pressure to my stomach, which can be really tender on bad days.
Any elastic is almost unbearable. I have ordered some new highback PUL in a larger size, hoping the elastic will rest on my ribs.

Just to make myself laugh a little, I went to burger king and ordered a burger with no ice...

Just a little update on my IBS. We have been able to work through much of the trauma that caused it,
and even if I am recovered, it has improved a lot.
I am happy about that, as last summer it was so bad it could have killed me. Literally.
Now I am able to realize how bad it has been and it is sinking in...

As I have been working through this, I have come across some useful information.
If IBS with diarrhea, it might be worth trying trimipramin in a low dose.
It is an old antidepressant that calms down and stabilizes. It is not an expencive drug.
Also peppermint oil can relax the intestines.
Thought this might be useful to share...

Peppermint oil is an old and proven trick to calm things down inside. It even can be added to an enema to reduce spasms.

Long time since you heard from me, so here is an update...
My incontinence issue is still moving the right direction.
Now I might have one accident a week, but with some shorter periods when everything happens...
My IBS is now at a point where I can control it mostly with medication.
If I had not got enough effect of my medicine, there would be serious risk of bowel obstruction,
and in the end colostomy.
My mental health is improving, and we believe that is why my incontinence is less severe..
The humour is as bad as usual. Check this.. Needs google translate...
