Successful holiday with the catheter.

Sat Aug 09, 2014 5:44 pm

This is our last evening on the Canary Islands Lanzarote. Airport in the morning then back to England's green and pleasant land.
This had been the first holiday with the catheter and it's been a breeze. No problems whatsoever to report. We brought a new catheter with us plus a insertion/removal kit but thankfully it's not been needed. Also brought valves and bags which have been changed to schedule and some antibiotics which have not been used.
The wheelchair has handled all kinds of surfaces and does not seem any worse for wear after being in the aircraft hold at thirty thousand feet.
Just hope the flights are on time and we get the same help at the airport as we did two weeks ago.

Dave,
I was elated to read of your Canary Islands holiday (vacation). We need more accounts of successful outings, travels, and events in which we participated. As my father would say, "Put that in your pipe (this was in the days before anybody knew of the hazards of tobacco use) and smoke it!"

Thanks for all your kind comments. We have just got home now and again all went well with airports and flights.
I use a normal urethral catheter 12fr and made of silicon. I use a Bard valve and when needed also a Simpla plus leg bag with a short pipe. I wear it high up on the leg because I wear shorts a lot.

Thanks again
