Stephen,
I don't believe I have found any "plastic" pant that will last a long time except for the "urethane" type pants. The only problem I have with them is they are too noisey for me.
My best luck for a pair of water proof pants to last a long while is the "nylon" type pants. Lotions and cremes will not effect them. I have two pairs that have lasted for almost two years and they're still going! ..............Paul Martin

Paul,
I have some really good ones from KIN but they cost over $20.00 a pair was hoping for something relibile and not so expensive. I guess maybe I am just too hard on them. I will look for your suggections. Take care

Here is a link to a Canadian manufacturer that makes child and adult incon products----I've been using their nylon pant without urethane lining during the day (over disposables or cloth) and at night the lined one. These are very long-lasting, and even the urethane lining seems quite durable. The lined ones are a little noisy if you are not wearing something heavier or tighter-fitting over them, like jeans. The unlined ones are as silent as can be.

Thanks for the address for the urethane lined nylon pants. I have tried a few pairs of nylon and polyester pants over the years. They were all lined with vinyl. The vinyl would crack and the pant would leak sooner than a decent pair of plastic pants would turn brittle. Plus the upfront cost for the lined pants is more than the cost per pair of plastic pants. I know that plastic pants don't last as long as we'd like them to but they are fairly inexpensive to replace. I wear protection 24/7 and have so for years. I wear waterproof pants over cloth and sometimes when I wear disposables so having comfortable waterproof pants is a must. Once the vinyl near the waistband turns brittle I replace them just like I would a pair of holey socks. I'd love to find a product that lasts longer so I might just place an order for a pair of the urethane lines pants and give them a try.

DDS,
Please consider
www.changingtimesdiaperco.com for his urethane coated pants by Bumpkins. Sizing is great! I normally wear Large and can also wear his Medium for a trimmer pant over a disposable and his Extra Large for use over a thicker night cloth diaper. I think it's a real plus when three sizes of a waterproof pant fit you!
I have used my share of rash cream and the urethane coated pants are holding up very well.
I am a fan of Lycra bands rather than the harsher elastic bands found on the majority of plastic pants. Lycra is so comfortable on the skin; if you've never tried it, you owe it to yourself to try it.
The big difference with Changing Times is the variety of prints available and not all juvenile prints! There are some great prints suitable for adults such as stripes and circles and I happen to like the Retro print.
Please let us know what you decide and how you like the pants after giving them a try out.

JoeK, I have tried plastic pants with the Lycra waist & leg bindings. I tried a few pair of the pants from Babykins. I liked the bindings and the cut of the pants but the vinyl didn't last very long. I went back to using the Leakmaster plastic pants from adultclothdiaper.com. These pants are made by Gary and I know there are many out there that think the elastics on the Gary pants are too-agressive but I do not have any problems with the elastics. 10 years ago the Gary pants had very tight elastics but they have gotten much better since then.

Noticing what people have been using. I wear protection every night. I personally use the ACD adultclothdiaper.com.
I use the regular pant which is 3mil thick I think it is. I find them very comfortable with no irritation from the elastic.
I've used the nylon urethane pants before and they do not seem to rise up enough for nighttime. The are a bit cooler
but I don't find them that much cooler. I have used Comco and did not like the heavier vinyl, they to me were much
less comfortable and the elastics were much rougher to deal with. The pant I used for years was VIP Vinyl Incontinent
Products and they are now out of business, they were the all time favorite.
Although there are lots of choices the Leakmaster by ACD for me has been very efficent and comfortable. If traveling
I will wear them due to it's harder to just find a restroom anywhere any time and they have saved me a few times
from something I couldn't control.
Just my opinion on the topic.

I've purchased all my plastic pants (and cloth diapers) from LLMedico for the past few years. Found them to have the best quality plastic pants, the lowest prices and excellent customer service. They also carry a product called Netti Supersoft which I found to be a great alternative to plastic pants from time to time.
