Has anyone had a Trus Biopsy of their prostate? I will be having one on Fri. the 13th!!!!! What does this entail? Is it painful? Any risks and/or side effects? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do a Google search for it. There is a lot of available information.

My wife and I just got back from a 3-week road trip through parts of the S.E. Before we left I finally received the pathology report from the trus-biopsy that was done. They did find one cancerous cell, so now he wants to do an MRI and possibly another biopsy in the area where the cancer was found. Although he rates this cancer as gleason 6, he wants to make sure nothing else is going on. Does and MRI detect more detailed data? I really don't want to have another biopsy. The last one was awful. I'm really getting tired of all the tests, procedures, stuff stuck in me that is unnatural. It's been a real roller coaster...have a test/procedure...wait a couple of weeks for the results...schedule another test/procedure...wait again...and on and on. I just want a decision to be made, and get on with it.

I'm surprised your doctor doesn't just want to remove your prostrate. You might want to ask him about that. Given you've already proven to have prostrate cancer, another biopsy isn't going to change that. Plus, you're very likely to need it removed sooner or later due to that cancer. You might as well make it sooner and just get it over with.

I agree with B Brian. If your health is good enough to tolerate the surgery, have your prostate removed and be done with the problem before the cancer has time to spread.
