As many of you know, ever since I decided to found the nonprofit, ive been much more open and vocal for sake of advocacy about my incontinence. But there are cases where I prefer not to be so open..not out of embarassments, but lack of understanding. One such case is with the students I work with. Unless I happen to know a student is a fellow incontinence sufferer, I tend to keep things to myself. This is after last summer telling the camp director im open to talkin g about incontinence and spreading the word, and he thought that wasnt a good idea. There are times where openness is warranted, and others discretion is called for. But I digress.. the reason for this post is as follows.. im a long term sub paraprofessional at a special ed middle school room. During gym class while sitting in the corner, one of the students walked up to me at random and out of the blue and said "People keep on saying you wear a diaper" Im like "What?" he repeated the statement and said I think they were getting up all in your business.. Not feeling like I was going to launch an advocacy campaign, i said to the student, well im not going to answer that. A few minutes later I asked him who said that and he was less than descriptive in his details. Couldnt remember names.. I just made sure that it was not other students in the school. Not that id be embarrassed if i was found out, but it could lead to disruption in the school environment and loss of my credibility and authority as a paraprofessional if I am found out by students. I admit to being a hypocrite in this regard.. there are some lines with advocacy I won't cross.. today confirms it.. that student coming up to me was just awkward!

Peace out!

Inadvertently posted this in the wrong forum.. was supposed to go under general.

Ugh, sorry this happened to you!

When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive - to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love.
