I started out in 2008 with just urinary incontinence. I was connected as a side effect of my psychiatric medication. My incontinence has progressed to OAB with urge incontinence and has not improved over the last 3 years. Now, I have problems with urge fecal incontinence from chronic diarrhea. This I am told is a side effect of my Lithium intake. GI distress and diarrhea are hallmark side effects of Lithium. So I'm incontinent of bladder and bowel but my mood is good. LOL. How ironic? It would be easy to just say why not change medicines? I have tried probably 20-25 different psychiatric medications. All in different dosages and combinations. From moods stabilizers, to antipsychotics, to antidepressants. The combo I'm on right now is working the best at controlling my mood. I am able to function, sleep at night, hold a job, raise a family, and go to school. I refuse to change in spite of having to wear diapers.

I became incontinent as a result of a motorcycle accident in 1997.

Yomike,

I became incon from a motorcycle accident too. Were you diagnosed with Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES)? In addition to being incon, I have nerve damage. The good news is I'm mobile and can walk.
